What you need for 2-3 persons:

  • 500 gram (1,1 lb) flour
  • 200 ml (6,8 fl oz) water
  • 3 onions
  • lots of olive oil for frying
  • 10 gram (0,4 oz) barm
  • 3-4 teaspoons salt

  1. Preheat the oven to 220 degree celsius.
  2. Peel the onions and cut them into small pieces.
  3. We heat some olive oil and fry the onions about 3 minutes. Stir a little.
  4. Flavor with salt.
  5. Into a large bowl we add the flour, the water and the barm and stir everything until we get a dough. Add the onions.
  6. Into a bowl we add some water.
  7. On a baking tray we put some baking paper.
  8. With our hands we shape the gems and we put them on our baking tray. To prevent the dough from cleaving we dip our hands in the water.
  9. We bake them at 220 degree celsius for about 30 minutes. In the half of the time we turn them over to prevent them from getting scorched.
