What you need for 2-3 persons:

  • 1 pita bread
  • 500 gram (1,1 lb) chickpeas out of the can (or 250 gram (9 oz / 0,55 lb) dried ones soaked overnight)
  • 2 onions
  • 2 teaspoons curry
  • 2 teaspoons caraway
  • 2 tablespoons tomato puree
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cups of water
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 12 minutes of your time!

  1. Heat your oven and bake the pita bread for about 10 minutes so that it becomes crusty.
  2. We peel the onions and cut them into middle-sized pieces.
  3. We heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan and add the curry and the caraway.
  4. Shortly we stir everything and then add the onion pieces. We fry them for 2 minutes.
  5. Now we add the chickpeas, 2 cups of water and the peeled and smashed cloves of garlic. We cook everything for about 2 minutes.
  6. Afterwards we add the tomato puree, stir everything and finally flavor with salt.
  7. Serve them together with the crisped up pita bread.
